The KENNAMETAL 1288896 is an indexable threading toolholder designed for internal thread cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from steel with a right-hand orientation, this toolholder accepts LT 11NR series inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method. The shank measures 0.75 inches in both width and height, with an overall length of 7 inches. A minimum bore diameter of 0.5 inches defines the smallest internal feature it can enter. The toolholder carries a Toolholder Style designation of S06 and belongs to the LT Threading series. Machinists and CNC operators working in production threading applications will find this a direct-fit, OEM-style solution.
This toolholder is suited for internal threading on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both job-shop and production environments. The right-hand cutting orientation is standard for conventional lathe setups where the tool feeds toward the chuck. With a head length of 1 inch and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 0.28 inches, it provides consistent insert positioning for repeatable thread form accuracy. It does not feature coolant-through capability, making it appropriate for external coolant delivery setups. Typical applications include threading bores in hydraulic components, fittings, and mechanical assemblies requiring precise thread profiles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit toolholder for CNC lathes and turning centers that accept S06-style internal threading toolholders with LT 11NR series inserts.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret. Confirm proper insert seating and screw torque according to the machine shop standard procedure before initiating a threading pass. Verify bore clearance against the 0.5 inch minimum bore diameter specification before setup to avoid tool or workpiece interference.
