The KENNAMETAL 1256815 is a solid carbide single point threading tool designed for precision thread cutting on small-diameter workpieces. It handles a minimum thread diameter of 0.16 inches and covers a threading range of 20 to 48 TPI, making it suitable for fine and medium thread profiles. The tool features a 5/32-inch shank diameter and a 0.5-inch projection from edge, with a maximum cutting depth of 0.032 inches. A TiCN and Titanium Nitride dual-layer coating improves wear resistance and extends tool life under continuous cutting conditions. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal control at the cutting zone. This tool is typically installed and operated by machinists and CNC toolroom professionals.
This threading tool is suited for lathe and CNC turning applications where internal or external threads must be cut at small diameters. The 20 to 48 TPI range accommodates a wide variety of unified and metric-equivalent thread forms on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a compact 0.16-inch minimum thread diameter, it is well-suited for intricate or tight-clearance threading operations common in precision machining, instrumentation components, and small fastener production. The KC610 grade carbide substrate is matched to the TiCN finish for performance in moderate-to-high cutting speed environments.
Designed as an OEM-style single point threading tool for use in standard toolholders accepting a 5/32-inch shank diameter on CNC lathes and manual turning centers.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with threading tool geometry and CNC or manual lathe operation. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder before initiating any cutting cycle and verify projection length matches the programmed tool offset. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and unobstructed before engaging the spindle. Follow the machine manufacturer and shop safety procedures when changing or setting cutting tools.
