The KENNAMETAL 1222285 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to ISO code 4.21503R611, this single-sided, right-hand insert carries a K110M grade designation and features a bright uncoated finish suited for applications where coating-induced edge buildup is a concern. The positive rake geometry promotes free cutting action and reduced cutting forces. At 0.197 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.5906 inches and a length of 0.5709 inches, the insert mounts via screw-hold method and is built to tight dimensional tolerances for repeatable positioning in compatible milling bodies.
This insert is intended for milling cast iron and non-ferrous metals, corresponding to ISO workpiece material groups K and N. It is commonly used in face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines in job shop, production, and maintenance environments. Machinists and tooling specialists working in metalworking, fabrication, and production turning operations are the primary installers and users of this insert type.
Designed for use in milling toolholders and cutter bodies compatible with ISO style 4.21503R611 inserts. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes cast iron (ISO group K) and non-ferrous metals (ISO group N). Verify insert pocket geometry and screw-mount specifications against your cutter body before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Clean the insert pocket of chips and debris before seating the new insert, and use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the cutter body specification. Inspect the insert seating surface and pocket for wear or damage at each insert change.
