The KENNAMETAL 1199238 is a solid carbide jobber drill designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6537L specification, this right-hand cutting drill features a 130-degree point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. The 8.10 mm cutting diameter is paired with a 10 mm straight cylindrical shank, offering rigid tool-holding in standard drill chucks and collets. At 103 mm overall length with a 61 mm flute length, it falls within the standard jobber reach envelope. The bright, uncoated carbide finish retains sharp cutting geometry and is suited for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians are the primary users of this drill.
This drill is rated for use in cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The three-flute geometry improves chip load distribution per flute while maintaining core strength, making it a practical choice for production environments where hole quality and tool life in difficult materials are priorities. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills operating with rigid setups. Maximum drilling depth is 49 mm. The straight shank accommodates standard ER collet systems and three-jaw chucks commonly found in machine shop and manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The 10 mm straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard ER collet chucks and three-jaw drill chucks sized for that shank diameter. Drill bit diameter tolerance is 0.006 to 0.021 mm, conforming to DIN specification tolerances for precision bore applications.
Installation and use of this drill should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the drill. Carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, or dropping the tool. Verify runout at the shank before commencing cuts, as excess runout accelerates edge chipping on carbide flutes.
