The KENNAMETAL 1183262 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the KENDEX series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It follows the ANSI designation TPG3205 and ISO designation TPG160302. The insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 0.008-inch corner radius, and an 11-degree relief angle. Grade K68 is an uncoated carbide grade engineered for high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The flat-top chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge suit finishing and semi-finishing passes where consistent surface quality is required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert.
This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring applications and is best suited for non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, and cast iron. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand toolholders using clamp-style insert retention. The positive rake and positive side clearance geometry reduce cutting forces, which is advantageous when machining softer non-ferrous alloys or heat-sensitive superalloys. The maximum depth of cut is 0.049 inches (1.25 mm). It is appropriate for both light production runs and job-shop environments where versatility across workpiece materials is needed.
Designed for use in clamp-style toolholders accepting TPG3205 inserts per ANSI and ISO TPG160302 standards. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping hardware specified for the toolholder to avoid insert rocking or premature failure. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
