The KENNAMETAL 1183260 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TPG324 geometry, part of the KENDEX series. Designed for general turning, facing, and boring operations, this insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/16-inch corner radius. The K68 grade delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well suited for machining stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals. The flat-top chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle promote free-cutting action and efficient chip flow across a range of cutting conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators will recognize this as a direct-fit ANSI and ISO standardized insert.
This insert is intended for light-to-moderate material removal on non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, and cast iron in both production turning and job-shop environments. It is suitable for use in turning centers, engine lathes, and boring applications where a triangular, positive-rake insert is specified. The KENDEX series is a recognized platform for indexable tooling in precision and general-purpose machining. The flat-top geometry supports consistent performance on finish and semi-finish passes. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), positioning this insert for finishing and light semi-finishing work rather than heavy roughing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-geometry insert for toolholders accepting ANSI TPG324 or ISO TPG160316 triangular inserts with a clamp-style holding method and positive clearance angle.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screw when seating the insert to avoid micro-fractures at the cutting edge. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before each installation.
