The KENNAMETAL 1163532 is a solid carbide round profiling insert designed for turning and profiling operations on non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Manufactured to the RCMK23 standard and carrying the K313 fine-grain carbide grade designation, this insert features an uncoated WC-Co substrate that maintains sharp cutting geometry without the added thermal barrier of a coating. The insert has a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.358 inches (9.09 mm), and provides a maximum depth of cut of 0.125 inches. The round shape delivers a full 360-degree included angle, giving machinists four usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for profiling and finish turning applications in CNC lathes and turning centers where tight contour control is required. The round geometry allows the tool path to follow complex profiles without repositioning the insert, making it a practical choice for aerospace, medical, and general machining work involving difficult-to-cut materials such as titanium alloys and nickel-based superalloys. It is held in place using a combination clamp and pin method within K-Lock compatible toolholders, ensuring secure seating during aggressive cuts.
Designed for use with K-Lock series toolholders accepting RCMK23 or ISO RCMK060400 round inserts. Conforms to RCMK23 and RCMK060400 standards. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Seat the insert firmly into the K-Lock pocket and secure using both the clamp and locating pin to prevent rotation under cutting load. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 0.125 inches for this insert geometry. Inspect the cutting edge and pocket seating surface for chips or debris before each insert change.
