The KENNAMETAL 1163010 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPGM32.52 geometry, designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual turning operations. It carries the K313 uncoated carbide grade and features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches, the corner radius is 1/32 inches, and the insert thickness is 5/32 inches. With 2 cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, it delivers consistent performance across turning, facing, and boring applications. The positive rake and honed cutting edge style reduce cutting forces and support clean chip formation at moderate depths of cut.
This insert is suited for medium machining operations on non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium. Its K313 grade provides high wear resistance combined with moderate toughness, making it appropriate for materials demanding controlled tool wear and reliable surface finish. Typical installations include production turning on lathes and turning centers where screw-on insert toolholders accepting CPGM-style inserts are in use. It is manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, with ANSI code CPGM3252 and ISO code CPGM09T308, ensuring dimensional interchangeability across compatible tooling systems.
Designed for use in screw-on CPGM-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with ANSI size code 3252 and ISO size code 09T308. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by machining technicians using appropriate torx or hex keys specified by the toolholder manufacturer for screw-on insert systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm) as specified for this insert geometry.
