The KENNAMETAL 1162898 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPGM21.52 geometry, coated with TiN via a PVD process and engineered for high wear-resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. It carries the KC730 manufacturer grade, which delivers a balance of wear-resistance and toughness suited to medium machining conditions. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, an 11-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. Two cutting edges are available per insert. It mounts via screw-on holding method and conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards.

This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations in CNC lathes and turning centers. Its positive side clearance and medium chip breaker make it well suited for general-purpose material removal on steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials. Secondary suitability includes superalloys and titanium (S and M material codes).
