The KENNAMETAL 1162375 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation DCMT32505 and ISO designation DCMT11T302, with a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and KC850 grade. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, which delivers moderate wear resistance combined with toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. With an inscribed circle of 0.3750 inches, an insert length of 0.9156 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, this insert is sized for finishing and light machining passes requiring tight tolerances and consistent surface finish. The LF chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge promote controlled chip flow at lower feed rates. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians using the screw-on holding method.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations in both production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials include steel and stainless steel, with additional suitability for cast iron and special or super alloys. The positive rake and positive side clearance geometry reduce cutting forces, making it appropriate for finishing passes and light interrupted cuts. The KC850 grade is positioned for moderate wear resistance and toughness across P, M, K, and S material classification codes, covering a wide range of ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials encountered in general machining applications.
Designed as an OEM-standard screw-on replacement insert conforming to ANSI insert code DCMT32505 and ISO insert code DCMT11T302, compatible with toolholders engineered for the DCMT 32505 insert seat geometry. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and secure with the appropriate torque on the clamping screw — refer to the toolholder manufacturer documentation for fastener specifications. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw threads for debris or damage before each insert change to maintain accurate seating and prevent premature edge failure.
