The KENNAMETAL 1162367 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in finish and light machining operations. It carries the ANSI designation CPMT21505LF and ISO designation CPMT060202, and is coated with a multilayer CVD-applied TiC, TiCN, and TiN stack under the KC850 grade. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a strong cutting geometry, while the LF chip breaker promotes controlled chip flow at light depths of cut. The insert features a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, positive side clearance, and a honed cutting edge for consistent surface finish. Corner radius measures 0.0079 inches, and the inscribed circle is 0.25 inches. Two cutting edges are available per insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, with primary workpiece material classifications of P, M, K, and S. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are the priority. The KC850 grade provides moderate wear resistance balanced with toughness, making it effective across a range of alloy and stainless grades as well as cast iron and select superalloys. Minimum order quantity is 5 inserts.
Designed as a screw-on style carbide turning insert conforming to ANSI CPMT21505 and ISO CPMT060202 standards, compatible with toolholders that accept CPMT-style screw-on inserts with the corresponding seat geometry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure to ensure the insert is fully seated against the pocket walls before resuming operation. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
