The KENNAMETAL 1162009 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation TCMT2152LF and ISO designation TCMT110208, coated with titanium nitride (TiN) via a PVD process. It features the KC730 grade, engineered for high to moderate wear resistance with balanced toughness across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. The insert uses a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a positive rake of 5 degrees, and a 7-degree relief angle. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining operations. Three cutting edges and a screw-on holding method make it a practical choice for production turning applications.
This insert is suited for finishing and light machining passes on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. The neutral hand orientation and positive side clearance make it adaptable across standard screw-on toolholders in both light production and job-shop environments. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered off and in a locked-out state before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the screw-on fastener securely without over-torquing the clamping screw.
