The KENNAMETAL 1161941 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DPGT3252HP configuration, coated with TiN via a PVD process and manufactured to the KC730 grade. Designed for high-wear-resistance finishing operations, this insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a positive side clearance. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches, the corner radius is 1/32 inches, and the insert length is 11.63 mm. With two cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, it is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications performed by machinists and CNC operators in production environments.
This insert is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials, offering high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness across those material groups. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm. It conforms to ANSI insert code DPGT3252 and ISO insert code DPGT11T308, making it compatible with standard DPGT-style screw-on toolholders used in both manual and CNC turning centers. Secondary material compatibility includes superalloys and titanium.
Designed for use in screw-on DPGT-style turning toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code DPGT3252 and ISO insert code DPGT11T308. Suitable for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces.
Installation is performed by machinists using standard insert mounting screws appropriate for the DPGT screw-on toolholder system. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Verify the insert pocket is free of chips and debris before installation to ensure proper seating and edge alignment. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw to avoid insert movement or fracture.
