The KENNAMETAL 1161938 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DPGT21.50.5HP configuration, grade KC730, with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) TiN coating. It is a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shaped insert designed for finishing operations in CNC and manual turning applications. The insert measures 7.75 mm (0.6104 inches) in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0079-inch corner radius, and a 0.0938-inch thickness. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry make it well suited for precision material removal with reduced cutting forces. Installation and operation require standard screw-on toolholders compatible with DPGT-style inserts.

This insert is intended for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Typical applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on CNC lathes and turning centers in production machining environments. Installation Notes

This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the mounting screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
