Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1161935 is a solid carbide turning insert with a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating, designed for precision metal removal in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It carries the ANSI insert code DPGT32502 and ISO code DPGT11T3005, and is built to the Screw-On holding method for secure seating in compatible toolholders. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a sharp, positive rake geometry with a honed cutting edge and positive side clearance. With an LF chip breaker optimized for finishing and light machining, this insert delivers consistent surface finish and controlled chip flow in demanding applications.

This insert is engineered for primary use on steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium (S and M material codes). It is well suited to CNC turning centers and manual lathes where close-tolerance finishing cuts are required. The KC730 grade offers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it effective across a range of cutting conditions without sacrificing edge life. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left- and right-hand setups depending on toolholder configuration.

Key Features

  • ANSI code DPGT32502 / ISO code DPGT11T3005 for standardized toolholder compatibility
  • KC730 grade with PVD TiN coating for high wear resistance on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron
  • LF chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing and light machining operations
  • 55-degree diamond insert shape with positive rake and honed cutting edge style
  • Two cutting edges per insert for extended tool life
  • Multi-use application: turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring

Compatibility

Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting DPGT-series inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle (ANSI size code 32502, ISO size code 11T3005). Meets ANSI and ISO standards for interchangeable insert fitment.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machining professionals using the appropriate screw-on torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm) for this insert geometry.
