The KENNAMETAL 1161922 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCGT style, featuring a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and a TiN PVD coating in the KC730 grade. Designed for finishing operations, it delivers high wear resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. The insert measures 11.63 mm (0.4579 inches) in length with a 0.375 inches inscribed circle, a 0.0079 inches corner radius, and a 0.1563 inches thickness. The positive rake and honed cutting edge geometry support clean, precise cuts at fine depths. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-on style toolholders for high-precision turning applications.
This insert is suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both CNC turning centers and manual lathes. Its positive side clearance and 7-degree relief angle make it effective for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, targeting low surface roughness and tight dimensional tolerances. This insert is appropriate for both light production runs and precision single-piece work where surface finish is critical.
Designed for use in screw-on style DCGT toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code DCGT32505 and ISO insert code DCGT11T302. Compatible with multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque to avoid insert movement or chipping during the cut. Inspect the cutting edge and seating surfaces for chips or debris before securing the insert.
