The KENNAMETAL 1161364 is a solid carbide turning insert in a 60-degree triangle (T) shape, designed for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in metalworking operations. Manufactured to ANSI insert code T221 and ISO code T110304, this insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN under the KC850 grade designation. That coating stack delivers a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, insert length is 0.4331 inches (11 mm), and the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). Screw-held mounting keeps the insert positively located in the toolholder pocket. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments install this insert for general turning applications across a range of workpiece materials.
The 1161364 is rated for primary use on steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and special and super alloys (S), with secondary suitability on cast iron (K) and stainless (M). Its neutral hand orientation and positive side clearance make it adaptable to both right-hand and left-hand tooling setups. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The KC850 grade is characterized as moderate wear-resistance to high-toughness across the P, M, K, and S material categories, making it a practical choice for shops that need one grade to cover a broad range of turning jobs without frequent grade changes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit turning insert for screw-clamp toolholders accepting ANSI T221 and ISO T110304 insert seats. Industry standard number CCGT32505HP applies.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert clamp screw and seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for damage or debris before seating a new insert to prevent seating errors or premature edge failure.
