The KENNAMETAL 1161333 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMP332 geometry, part of the KENLOC series. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake and clearance angle. The KC850 grade carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, designed to deliver moderate wear resistance and toughness across a range of workpiece materials. With 6 usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is suited for medium machining operations in turning, facing, and boring applications. Licensed trades and CNC machinists working in job shops, production environments, or maintenance machining will find this insert relevant to daily general-purpose metal cutting work.
This insert is designed for use on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, with primary application in ISO material groups P and M, and secondary suitability in K and S classifications, which include cast iron and super alloys. The KENLOC series is a Kennametal indexable tooling platform compatible with clamp and pin insert-holding methods. Typical applications include external turning, facing passes, and internal boring on CNC lathes and turning centers in both light production and general machining environments. The medium chip-breaker geometry and moderate depth-of-cut capacity make this insert appropriate for semi-finishing to light roughing passes.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders that accept TNMP332 inserts with clamp or pin holding methods. Meets ANSI and ISO standards with ANSI insert code TNMP332 and ISO insert code TNMP160408.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp or pin to avoid movement under cutting loads. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp hardware for wear or debris before each installation to maintain accurate seating and dimensional repeatability.
