The KENNAMETAL 1161304 is a DNMP432 KC850-grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN that provides moderate wear resistance combined with high toughness across a range of workpiece materials. The insert has a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.03125-inch corner radius. It is suited for medium machining operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments install this insert as part of the KENLOC toolholding system.
This insert is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, as well as special and super alloys, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. It performs in medium machining chip-breaker conditions with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry are suited for stable, interrupted, and continuous cuts where rigidity and edge security are priorities. It is compatible with KENLOC-series toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert-holding methods.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept DNMP432 inserts secured by clamp or pin holding methods. Compatible with turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and special or super alloys.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down the machine and engage the spindle lock before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and torque the clamp or pin to the toolholder manufacturer specification before engaging a cut. Inspect the pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris that could cause insert rocking or premature failure.
