The KENNAMETAL 1161187 is a solid carbide turning insert in the KENLOC series, designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual turning applications. Manufactured to the ANSI insert designation CNGP432 and ISO designation CNGP120408, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake geometry. The uncoated K68 grade delivers high wear resistance balanced with toughness, making it well suited for stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. With a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, it is built for stable, repeatable cuts in medium machining conditions.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations across a range of workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S, which include stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and non-ferrous metals. The CNGP432 geometry with four cutting edges makes it a practical choice for production environments where insert economy and consistent tool life are priorities. It is installed by machinists, CNC operators, and tooling technicians in job shop, production, and maintenance machining settings.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept the CNGP432 insert geometry. Suitable for clamp-and-pin style holders with a negative insert seat. Verify holder pocket geometry and clearance angle before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, locked-out condition. Use the correct torque driver or clamp screw for the KENLOC holder to avoid seat damage or insert fracture. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping force and insert indexing procedure.
