The KENNAMETAL 1160895 is a solid carbide turning insert with an ANSI designation of TNMP432 and an ISO designation of TNMP220408. It carries a KC730 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiN coating for high wear-resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a negative rake and negative side clearance, providing six usable cutting edges per insert. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for medium machining operations including turning, facing, and boring. Licensed HVAC and metalworking shops rely on Kennametal KC730 inserts in production and job-shop turning environments.
This insert is designed for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers handling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials. Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel and superalloys. The KENLOC series insert is held in place using a clamp and pin method, making it compatible with standard KENLOC-style toolholders. The chip breaker designation is Common, optimized for medium machining chip control across the listed material groups. This insert suits both production turning and general-purpose operations where consistent edge life is critical.
Designed for use with KENLOC-series toolholders that accept TNMP432 inserts with clamp and pin holding. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards (ANSI: TNMP432, ISO: TNMP220408). Minimum order quantity is 5 inserts; sold individually per package.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the KENLOC toolholder to secure the insert — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket and pin for wear or damage before installing a fresh insert to ensure proper seating and edge geometry.
