The KENNAMETAL 1160841 is a solid carbide turning insert in the KENLOC series, designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries the ANSI designation CNGG4305LF and ISO code CNGG120402, with a KC730 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied titanium nitride (TiN) coating. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert geometry and LF chip breaker are optimized for finishing and light machining passes. The insert features a honed cutting edge style, negative rake, and negative side clearance. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent, repeatable performance across tool changes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. It performs across ISO material groups P, M, and K, and secondary groups M and S. The KC730 grade is characterized by high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness across those material groups. It is appropriate for both light production runs and finishing cycles where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The insert seats in compatible KENLOC toolholders using a clamp-and-pin holding method.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders that accept CNGG4305 inserts secured by clamp-and-pin holding. Compatible with CNC turning applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys per ISO material groups P, M, K, and S.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating the insert. Torque the clamp fastener per the toolholder manufacturer specification; do not substitute values from other insert or holder families.
