The KENNAMETAL 1160200 is a CNMG643 indexable turning insert in the KC850 grade, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer CVD coating — TiC, TiCN, and TiN — it delivers a balanced combination of wear resistance and toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry. With four usable cutting edges per insert, the 1160200 offers extended tool life per unit. It fits the KENLOC insert holding system and is retained by clamp or pin. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers.
The 1160200 is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in medium machining conditions. Primary workpiece materials include steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M), with capable performance on cast iron (ISO K) and special or super alloys (ISO S). The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across left- and right-hand toolholders. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), making this insert appropriate for moderate material removal passes rather than heavy roughing. It carries both ANSI and ISO standards recognition and is cataloged under ANSI size code 643 and ISO size code 190612.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept CNMG643 inserts retained by clamp or pin. Compatible with ANSI insert code CNMG643 and ISO insert code CNMG190612 toolholder seats. Multi-use application across turning, facing, and boring operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket before tightening the clamp or seating the pin; an improperly seated insert can fracture under cutting load. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before each insert change.
