Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1160025 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CNMG643 geometry, part of the KENLOC series. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/4-inch inscribed circle, and a 3/64-inch corner radius. The insert carries grade K68, which delivers high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. With 4 cutting edges, a negative rake, and a negative side clearance, this insert is designed for medium machining chip breaker operations. It is suitable for use by machinists and tooling technicians running CNC or manual turning equipment.

This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, and cast iron. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ANSI insert code of CNMG643 and an ISO insert code of CNMG190612. The KENLOC series clamping system uses a clamp-and-pin holding method, making it compatible with KENLOC-style toolholders designed for CNMG insert geometry. The common chip breaker profile handles a broad range of medium-duty stock removal applications in production and job-shop environments.

Key Features

  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with 4 usable cutting edges for extended tool life per insert
  • K68 grade: uncoated solid carbide with high wear resistance and toughness for stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials
  • Neutral hand orientation allows use in both left- and right-hand toolholder setups
  • Clamp and pin holding method compatible with KENLOC-style toolholders
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge style for stable entry and reduced chipping
  • Meets ANSI and ISO dimensional standards for predictable drop-in replacement

Compatibility

Designed for use in KENLOC-series CNMG643 toolholders. Conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG643 and ISO insert code CNMG190612. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring on compatible CNC and manual lathes.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Secure the insert using the clamp-and-pin method per the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedure. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
