Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1157811 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SEHW series, designed for indexable milling operations in ferrous materials. It carries the KC735M manufacturer grade and features a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) titanium nitride (TiN) coating applied over a solid carbide substrate. The insert is square in shape with a 90-degree included angle, a neutral hand orientation, and four usable cutting edges. Each edge is ground to a sharp cutting edge style with a flat-top chip breaker and a positive rake geometry. The 20-degree relief angle and 1.00 mm corner radius make this insert suitable for general-purpose face milling and shoulder milling of steel and stainless steel workpieces.

This insert is intended for use in steel and stainless steel applications across both roughing and semi-finishing milling operations. The KC735M grade is optimized for primary workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups P (steel) and M (stainless steel). It is held in the cutter body by a screw-type clamping method. The insert seats in compatible SEHW-series indexable milling toolholders and is sized to a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. Typical installers are CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working with indexable milling cutters in production or job-shop environments. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.5000 inch under appropriate cutting conditions.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate with PVD TiN coating for wear resistance on steel and stainless steel
  • Four cutting edges per insert for extended tool life and lower cost-per-edge
  • Sharp cutting edge style with flat-top chip breaker and positive rake geometry
  • Neutral hand orientation compatible with right-hand and left-hand cutter bodies
  • 20-degree relief angle supports reduced cutting forces in ferrous milling
  • Screw-type insert holding method for secure, repeatable indexing

Compatibility

Designed for use in SEHW-series indexable milling toolholders that accept a 0.5 inch inscribed circle square insert with a screw-type clamping method. Conforms to ANSI code SEHW43A6 and ISO code SEHW1204AFN.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians using a torx or hex key appropriate to the cutter body manufacturer's screw specification. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the cutter body's rated maximum depth of cut or spindle speed for the insert grade in use.
