The KENNAMETAL 1152753 is a left-hand E-SWLP indexable boring bar constructed from solid carbide, designed for internal diameter boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. The bar accepts WP-style inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method and features a through-coolant channel with a 0.047-inch coolant hole diameter for effective chip evacuation and heat control at the cutting zone. With a minimum bore diameter of 8.15mm (0.3210 inches) and a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees, this tool is suited for precision finish and semi-finish boring passes where dimensional accuracy is critical. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in applications requiring tight bore tolerances in small-diameter features.
This boring bar is used in production and job-shop environments for small-diameter internal boring on lathes and live-tool turning centers. The 1/4-inch (6.35mm) round shank fits standard boring bar holders and quick-change tooling systems designed for that shank size. The -3-degree lead angle geometry influences cutting force direction and is appropriate for general-purpose boring where radial load management is a consideration. The 101.6mm (4.000-inch) overall length provides adequate reach for typical small-bore applications without excessive overhang. No multi-use tool designation applies; this bar is dedicated to boring operations.
Accepts WP-style inserts with a 3/16-inch inscribed circle and 5/64-inch thickness in the E-SWLP insert seat style. Designed for use in toolholders and boring bar sleeves accommodating a 1/4-inch round shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tooling system is locked out before mounting or removing the boring bar. Torque the insert screw to the insert manufacturer specification using the correct Torx or hex key — do not over-torque. Verify coolant supply line pressure and flow compatibility with the machine tool before enabling through-coolant to avoid seal damage.
