The KENNAMETAL 1152732 is a right-hand E-SCLP indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations in metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide, this toolholder accepts CP-style inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method. It features a 5/8-inch (15.88mm) shank diameter, a minimum bore diameter of 19.56mm (0.770 inches), and an overall length of 254mm (10.0 inches). Through-coolant capability is standard, with a coolant hole diameter of 0.218 inches, enabling effective chip evacuation and thermal control at the cutting zone. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-room technicians are the typical installers of this toolholder in production and job-shop environments.
This boring bar is suited for small-bore internal machining on CNC lathes and turning centers where tight bore tolerances are required. The -5-degree lead angle and neutral rake (0-degree rake angle) geometry support stable cutting action in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 0.406-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension allows accurate setup against bore centerline. Its compact minimum bore entry of 19.56mm makes it applicable to small-diameter through-bore and blind-bore operations in production and repair machining scenarios where solid carbide rigidity reduces chatter and deflection.
Designed to accept CP-style (CP..) indexable inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch thickness. Confirm insert designation against the E-SCLP toolholder system specifications before ordering inserts separately.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret or toolpost is in a safe, locked position before mounting or adjusting the boring bar. Verify shank clamping torque against the machine manufacturer's toolpost specifications — do not overtighten or undertighten the clamping screws. Confirm through-coolant passages are clear and connected to the machine coolant supply before initiating a cut.
