The KENNAMETAL 1152727 is a left-hand E-SCLP indexable boring bar engineered for internal turning and precision bore finishing on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built from solid carbide, it accepts CP-style inserts secured by screw-style insert holding for repeatable positioning and quick changeover. The bar features a 15.24mm (0.600 inch) minimum bore diameter, a 12.70mm (1/2 inch) shank diameter, and an overall length of 203.2mm (8.0 inches). Through-coolant delivery via a 0.187-inch coolant hole diameter keeps cutting edges cool and helps evacuate chips in deep-bore applications. A neutral rake angle of 0 degrees and a negative 5-degree lead angle suit a range of internal profiling and finishing passes.
This boring bar is suited for machining operations requiring tight bore tolerances in small-diameter applications starting at 15.24mm. It is typically installed in live-tool lathes, turning centers, or milling machine boring setups where left-hand orientation is required. The through-coolant capability makes it particularly effective in deeper bore passages where flood coolant cannot reach the cutting zone reliably. Machinists and tool-room technicians working in job shops or production environments will find it appropriate for steel, cast iron, and other machinable materials consistent with CP insert grade selection.
Designed for use with CP-style indexable inserts. Compatible insert inscribed circle is 1/4 inch with a thickness of 3/32 inch. Verify insert grade and geometry selection against the workpiece material and cutting parameters before use.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Ensure the shank is clamped squarely and to sufficient engagement depth in the toolholder or turret to minimize overhang and chatter. Confirm coolant-through supply line pressure and flow compatibility with the machine tool before enabling through-coolant mode.
