The KENNAMETAL 1152725 is a left-hand E-SCLP indexable boring bar manufactured from solid carbide, designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. It accepts CP-style inserts secured by a screw-holding method and features a through-coolant channel to direct cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone. The bar has a 3/8-inch (9.53 mm) shank diameter and an overall length of 6 inches (152.40 mm). The minimum bore diameter is 12.19 mm (0.4800 inches), making it suited for small-bore applications where rigidity and heat management are critical. Neutral rake geometry and a negative 5-degree lead angle support stable cutting in a range of materials.
This boring bar is intended for use in production and job-shop environments where left-hand internal boring operations are required. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in horizontal and vertical turning setups. The through-coolant feature is particularly useful in deep-bore or high-speed applications where chip evacuation and thermal control directly affect surface finish and tool life. The center-to-cutting-edge dimension of 0.2500 inches and a 1/4-inch insert inscribed circle allow for precise tool-nose positioning within tight bore envelopes.
Designed to accept CP-style indexable inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch thickness. Verify insert grade and geometry selection against the workpiece material and cutting conditions prior to use.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before setting or changing tooling. Ensure the shank is fully clamped in the tool block or turret with adequate contact length to minimize overhang and vibration. Connect the coolant-through supply at the tool block before operation and confirm flow before starting the cut.
