The KENNAMETAL 1152588 is a right-hand E-CTFP indexable boring bar engineered for internal turning and bore finishing operations on machining centers and CNC lathes. Built from solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and vibration resistance needed for tight-tolerance bores. The bar has a 6-inch overall length, a 5/8-inch shank diameter, and a minimum bore diameter of 0.770 inches (19.56 mm). Through-coolant capability directs fluid directly to the cutting zone, extending insert life and improving chip evacuation in deep-bore applications. It accepts TP-series inserts held by a clamp-style mechanism and features a positive 5-degree rake angle for efficient cutting action. This bar is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in precision boring applications.
The 1152588 is suited for both production and job-shop environments where consistent bore quality is required. Its E-CTFP toolholder style and Kendex series designation make it a direct fit for shops already standardized on KENNAMETAL Kendex tooling. The 0.406-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension supports accurate setup and offset calculations. Typical applications include finish boring of steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials in medium to light cutting conditions. The 1/4-inch insert inscribed circle and 1/8-inch insert thickness are standard Kendex parameters that simplify insert procurement and changeover.
Designed for use with TP-series E-CTFP inserts in the KENNAMETAL Kendex tooling system. Accepts inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 1/8-inch thickness. Compatible with machine tool setups that accept a 5/8-inch round shank boring bar.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the boring head or turret block to the specified clamp engagement depth before engaging the spindle. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the CNC control is in a safe state before changing inserts or adjusting the bar. Verify coolant line connections are clear and pressurized before running through-coolant passes to prevent insert damage from interrupted fluid flow.
