The KENNAMETAL 1114962 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the KC850 grade with a CVD-applied TiC, TiCN, and TiN multilayer coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of steel and cast iron applications. The right-hand NRD-style insert features a 3.18 mm cutting width (0.1252 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 6.35 mm (0.2500 inches). A full-radius cutting edge with a 1.59 mm corner radius (0.0626 inches) and a neutral rake geometry contribute to consistent chip formation during grooving passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments will find this insert suited to C5 and C6 material grades.
This insert belongs to the Top Notch series and fits insert seat size 4. It is intended for right-hand grooving toolholders compatible with the Top Notch system. Typical applications include external grooving, undercutting, and parting on ferrous materials such as carbon steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in both light and moderate interrupted cuts. The 55-degree included angle and insert size designation 4062 are standard references when selecting compatible Top Notch toolholders. This insert is sold individually and requires a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use in Top Notch series grooving toolholders accepting insert seat size 4. The MSC and manufacturer cross-reference number for this insert is NRD4062R. Confirm toolholder compatibility using the seat size, insert style, and series designations before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a stopped, locked-out state. Seat and clamping surfaces should be clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for clamping screws and do not substitute insert grades or styles without verifying toolholder compatibility. Follow shop safety procedures and applicable ANSI or ISO turning tooling standards when setting up grooving operations.
