The KENNAMETAL 1114907 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the KC850 manufacturer grade and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a 2.39 mm (0.0941 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 6.35 mm (0.2500 inch). A positive rake angle of 10 degrees and a K-style chip breaker promote controlled chip flow, reducing the risk of chip packing in deep groove applications. Installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert fits the Top Notch series toolholding system and is suited for grooving operations in steel and alloy materials corresponding to material grades C5 and C6. The right-hand cutting orientation makes it appropriate for standard lathe setups where the spindle rotates counterclockwise when viewed from the tailstock. The included angle of 55 degrees and a corner radius of 0.19 mm (0.0075 inch) suit finish-grooving passes where profile accuracy matters. Typical applications include OD grooving, snap-ring groove cutting, and undercut work on steel workpieces in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with Top Notch series grooving toolholders. Compatible with insert size 3094 toolholder pockets. Suits material grades C5 and C6 workpiece materials. Refer to the MSC and manufacturer cross-reference number NGD3094R/LK when sourcing equivalent toolholder bodies.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert in its pocket. Confirm the insert is fully seated and the clamping screw is snugged to the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 6.35 mm, as overloading the insert beyond its designed range risks edge fracture.
