The KENNAMETAL 1114368 is a carbide threading insert designed for external thread cutting applications. Manufactured to the NJP insert style in the Top Notch series, it carries a KC730 grade designation and features a Titanium Nitride (TiN) finish applied via PVD coating process. The insert is configured for right-hand, external threading at 16 TPI with a 60-degree included angle, conforming to the UNJ thread standard. With a thickness of 0.1949 inches and a tip-to-top height of 0.0980 inches, this insert is suited for precision threading operations on CNC turning centers and screw machines. It is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians working to close thread tolerances.
This insert is intended for external UNJ threading operations on turned components where a controlled root radius is required. The UNJ thread form is commonly specified in aerospace and high-strength fastener applications. The KC730 carbide grade with PVD TiN coating is appropriate for threading steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous workpiece materials classified under material grades C2, C3, and C4. It fits standard Top Notch series toolholders designed for the NJP insert style and 3010 insert size.
Designed for use in Top Notch series toolholders accepting NJP-style inserts at 3010 insert size for external UNJ threading at 16 TPI. Compatible with material grades C2, C3, and C4 workpiece classifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians on CNC lathes or manual turning centers. The machine spindle must be stopped and the toolholder must be fully secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to cracking under improper clamping load. Verify insert orientation for right-hand cutting direction before resuming operation.
