The KENNAMETAL 1114348 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the KC730 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiN finish that extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert has a right-hand orientation, a cutting width of 1.58 mm (0.0622 inches), and a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm (0.1098 inches). A positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a corner radius of 0.19 mm (0.0075 inches) combine to reduce cutting forces and produce clean groove profiles. This insert is sized at 2062 and suited for use by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for grooving applications on metals classified under material grades C2, C3, and C4, which include cast irons and non-ferrous materials as well as harder ferrous workpiece materials depending on grade selection. The Top Notch series tooling system provides a secure, repeatable seating interface that suits both high-volume production runs and precision single-piece work. The 3-degree lead angle and 55-degree included angle geometry are suited to tight-tolerance groove profiles where dimensional accuracy is critical. Machinists working on components that require controlled groove depth and width consistency will find this insert appropriate for those operations.
Designed for use with Top Notch series grooving toolholders that accept NGP2062 style inserts. Compatible with material grades C2, C3, and C4 workpiece materials. The MSC and manufacturer cross-reference number for this insert is NGP2062R/L.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully into the Top Notch toolholder pocket and verify secure clamping before starting the spindle. Inspect the insert seat and clamping mechanism for chips or wear before each index. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm to avoid insert fracture or toolholder damage.
