The KENNAMETAL 1114137 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the NG2094K style in the Top Notch series, this insert features a KC720 grade carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiN coating for improved wear resistance and longer tool life. The cutting width is 2.39 mm (0.0941 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm (0.1098 inches). The right-hand configuration, positive 10-degree rake angle, and K-style chip breaker make it well suited for consistent chip control in medium-duty grooving applications. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians install this insert as part of a Top Notch compatible toolholder system.
This insert is intended for grooving and profiling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials in the C1 through C5 material grade range. The 55-degree included angle and 3-degree lead angle support controlled entry into grooves with minimal lateral deflection. The 0.19 mm (0.0075 inch) corner radius minimizes stress concentration at the groove root. Typical applications include OD grooving, snap-ring groove cutting, and undercut operations on production turning equipment. The K chip breaker geometry is optimized for short, manageable chips during interrupted or continuous groove passes.
Designed as a replacement insert for Top Notch series toolholders accepting the NG2094K insert style. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque driver for clamping screws to ensure proper seating without over-stressing the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
