The KENNAMETAL 1113841 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for precision external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, which delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. The insert is left-hand oriented, with a cutting width of 6.35 mm (0.25 inches), a maximum depth of cut of 6.35 mm (0.25 inches), and a full-radius corner profile with a corner radius of 3.18 mm (0.125 inches). It is rated for material grades C5 and C6, suiting it to machining steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible Top Notch toolholders.
The 1113841 is intended for use in production turning environments where consistent groove geometry and tool life are critical. The NR insert style with a neutral rake angle and 55-degree included angle is suited to grooving passes in the 5.00 mm to 10.00 mm depth-of-cut range. This insert is a metric-measurement product sized at 4125 with an insert seat size of 4, making it compatible with Top Notch series toolholding systems that accept this seat designation. It is well-suited to both roughing and finishing groove passes where a full-radius profile is required.
Designed for use in Top Notch series toolholders that accept insert seat size 4 and the NR4125 insert style. Consult the toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm seat and clamping compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed and indexed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct Top Notch clamping screw and torque driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and geometry.
