The KENNAMETAL 1113823 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for the Top Notch series tooling system. It carries the NR2062 insert style and is manufactured in the KC850 grade — a CVD-coated carbide with a multilayer TiC, TiCN, and TiN finish suited for general-purpose turning and grooving operations on steel and cast iron. The insert delivers a cutting width of 3.18 mm (0.1252 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm (0.1098 inches), with a full-radius corner profile measuring 1.59 mm (0.0626 inches). The neutral rake geometry and right-hand orientation make it a standard choice for external grooving and cut-off work on CNC lathes. Installation is handled by machinists and turning center operators as part of routine insert indexing.
This insert is suited for external grooving, recessing, and parting applications on CNC turning centers and manual lathes. The KC850 grade performs across material grades C5 and C6, covering a broad range of steels and cast irons in both roughing and finishing passes. The 55-degree included angle and full-radius nose are especially useful in groove-form and contour-grooving scenarios where consistent radius transfer is required. The insert size designation is 2062 and it falls within the maximum depth of cut range of 2.00 to 3.00 mm, giving operators a defined operating window for depth management.
Designed for use with Kennametal Top Notch series grooving toolholders that accept the NR2062 insert style. The MSC and manufacturer cross-reference number is NR2062R/L.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle stopped and all energy sources locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Top Notch clamp key or torx driver as specified by the toolholder documentation — do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert. This is a single-use, non-indexable insert style; replace when cutting edge wear reaches the end of its serviceable life.
