The KENNAMETAL 1113499 is a carbide threading insert designed for both internal and external thread cutting operations. Built to the NTF2L insert style in the Top Notch series, it carries a K68 manufacturer grade and a C3 material grade rating. The uncoated (bright) finish makes it well suited for applications where coating buildup tolerance is tight. This left-hand insert covers an external pitch range of 0.60 to 1.75 mm (14 to 44 TPI) and an internal pitch range of 1.00 to 2.00 mm (12 to 24 TPI), giving machinists a wide thread-cutting window in a single insert. It is installed by CNC operators, tool-and-die machinists, and precision turning professionals.
This insert is used in threading operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers where partial profile 60-degree thread forms are required. Its left-hand orientation makes it the correct choice for left-hand thread applications on both internal bores and external diameters. Typical use cases include production threading of fasteners, fittings, and machined components across general metalworking and tooling environments. The Top Notch series holder system is required for proper seating and clamping of this insert.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL Top Notch series threading toolholders that accept size 2 NTF-style inserts. No specific compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Top Notch clamping screw and torx key as specified by the toolholder documentation - do not overtighten the clamping screw or use improvised tools. Confirm insert hand orientation (left-hand) matches the intended thread direction before beginning the cut. Inspect the insert seat and clamping pocket for chips or debris prior to seating the new insert.
