The KENNAMETAL 1113088 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for precise external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a KC730 grade designation with a PVD-applied TiN coating, which improves wear resistance and extends tool life in a range of workpiece materials. The insert is configured for left-hand cutting, features a neutral rake geometry, and delivers a cutting width of 3.18 mm (0.125 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm (0.150 inches). Machinists and tool-room technicians use this insert in production turning environments where consistent groove geometry and dimensional accuracy are required.
This insert is suited for machining operations targeting material grades C2, C3, and C4, covering a broad range of cast irons and non-ferrous materials. The Top Notch series is a recognized platform in single-point grooving toolholders, and this insert seats into compatible Top Notch insert seat size 4 holders. The 55-degree included angle, 3-degree lead angle, and 0.19 mm (0.0075 inch) corner radius make it appropriate for moderate-depth grooving passes in both production shops and job-shop turning environments. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders requiring an insert seat size 4. Compatible with material grades C2, C3, and C4 workpiece materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the insert firmly into the Top Notch holder pocket and secure with the appropriate clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as compromised cutting edges can cause unpredictable tool behavior.
