The KENNAMETAL 1113066 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated grade KC730 with a PVD-applied TiN finish, this right-hand insert delivers a 2.46 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm. The NG-style insert geometry features a neutral rake and a 55-degree included angle, making it well suited for grooving, parting, and profiling applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible Top Notch toolholders as a standard indexable unit.
This insert is intended for use in production and job-shop turning environments where repeatable groove width and depth control are critical. It is suited for machining material grades C2, C3, and C4, covering a broad range of cast irons and steels. The 0.32 mm corner radius and 3-degree lead angle support clean groove walls with minimal burr formation. Typical applications include external grooving, face grooving setups, and light parting operations on horizontal and slant-bed turning centers.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL Top Notch series toolholders accepting NG3097 insert style; also referenced under manufacturer number NG3097R/L. Suitable for material grades C2, C3, and C4.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Confirm the toolholder is compatible with the NG3097 Top Notch insert style before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris prior to installation to ensure proper seating and clamping force.
