The KENNAMETAL 1112904 is a carbide threading insert in the Top Notch series, designed for both internal and external thread cutting operations. Coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN) via a PVD process, the KC730 grade insert handles a partial profile 60-degree thread standard. It covers an external pitch range of 2.50 to 4.00 mm (6 to 11 TPI) and an internal pitch of 4.00 mm (6 TPI). The NT3RC style is right-hand orientation with an insert size of 3. Tip to top of insert measures 0.098 inches (2.46 mm), with a corner radius of 0.0134 inches (0.34 mm) and a thickness of 0.1949 inches (4.95 mm). This insert is used by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC lathes and manual turning centers.
The 1112904 threading insert suits ferrous and non-ferrous threading applications where a partial profile 60-degree form is required. The KC730 carbide grade with TiN PVD coating is well suited for general-purpose threading on steels and cast irons classified under material grades C2, C3, and C4. Right-hand cutting geometry makes it appropriate for conventional feed-direction threading passes on both OD and ID thread forms. It is a single insert sold as part of the Top Notch modular tooling system, which uses a dedicated holder platform for indexable threading operations.
Designed for use with Top Notch series threading toolholders that accept NT3RC style inserts. Consult the Top Notch system holder lineup to confirm shank size and insert pocket compatibility before ordering.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate Top Notch torx or clamping key to secure the insert to the recommended clamping torque specified in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for chips or damage before indexing to a fresh edge.
