The KENNAMETAL 1106230 is an indexable threading toolholder designed for external thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built to the LSA toolholder style, it accepts LT 16ER inserts secured by a screw clamping method, providing repeatable insert positioning and rigid setup. The shank measures 0.5 inches wide by 0.5 inches tall and the overall length is 3.25 inches, making it well-suited for standard tool blocks and turrets. With a head length of 0.87 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension of 0.5 inches, this holder delivers precise insert positioning for consistent thread form. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this toolholder for external threading passes on a wide range of materials.
This toolholder is intended for external threading applications on turning equipment. The right-hand configuration suits standard lathe setups where the tool feeds from right to left along the workpiece. It is a single-use tool configuration with no coolant-through capability, appropriate for conventional flood or mist coolant delivery from the machine. The LT series threading inserts it accepts are sized for a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, covering a broad range of thread pitches depending on the insert grade and geometry selected. This holder fits shops running production threading work where insert indexability reduces cycle time and tooling cost.
Designed for use with LT 16ER series indexable threading inserts. Fits standard 1/2-inch square shank tool blocks and turret pockets on CNC and manual turning centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret or tool block. Torque the insert clamping screw according to the insert manufacturer specifications for the LT 16ER insert being used. Verify shank seating and tool overhang before resuming cutting operations.
