The KENNAMETAL 1096432 is a left-hand indexable boring bar engineered for precision internal turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built on the Kenloc toolholder platform, it accepts CN.. style inserts held by screw or clamp methods and operates with a negative rake angle of 5 degrees, making it well suited for harder workpiece materials. The steel shank measures 1-1/2 inches in diameter with a 14-inch overall length, providing substantial reach for deeper bore applications. A minimum bore diameter of 1.760 inches (44.70 mm) sets the lower limit of application range. Coolant-through capability via a 1/4-18 NPT port supports chip evacuation and tool life in continuous cutting conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers will find this bar ready for production and jobbing environments alike.
This boring bar is intended for internal diameter machining in metal-cutting environments where left-hand cutting geometry is required. The A-MCLN toolholder style and Kenloc series designation place it in KENNAMETAL's standard modular tooling lineup. It is appropriate for use in horizontal and vertical turning centers performing finish and semi-finish boring passes. The -5 degree lead angle influences approach geometry and chip flow. The coolant-through design makes it particularly effective in deep bore situations where flood coolant cannot adequately reach the cutting zone. No multi-use configuration is supported; this is a single-application boring bar.
Designed for use with CN.. series indexable inserts featuring a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 3/16-inch insert thickness. Compatible with standard Kenloc-style tooling setups requiring a 1-1/2-inch round shank boring bar with left-hand cut geometry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and locked out per facility LOTO procedures. The boring bar shank must be clamped securely in a compatible boring bar holder or turret block, ensuring adequate shank engagement to minimize overhang-induced vibration. Connect the coolant-through circuit to the 1/4-18 NPT port using a compatible fitting and verify coolant flow before running the spindle. Inspect insert seating and clamping screw torque each time the insert is indexed or replaced.
