The KENNAMETAL 1096357 is a left-hand MWLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built on the Kenloc clamping platform, it secures WN..33. series inserts using a combination clamp and screw holding method, providing rigid, repeatable insert location. The shank measures 3/4 inches wide by 3/4 inches tall, with an overall length of 4.5 inches and a head length of 1.0 inch. A -5 degree rake angle and back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 1.0 inch make this holder well-suited for medium to heavy turning passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The steel construction delivers the rigidity needed for consistent chip control across production runs.
This toolholder is intended for use in external turning applications where a left-hand cutting direction is required. It is a single-use (non-multi-use) toolholder appropriate for production machining environments, job shops, and maintenance turning operations. The 3/4 inch square shank fits standard OD turning toolposts and turret stations sized for that shank class. Insert inscribed circle is 3/8 inches, confirming compatibility with the WN.. 332 insert geometry. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant must be applied externally at the cutting zone.
Designed to accept WN.. 332 series indexable inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Fits standard OD turning toolposts and CNC turret stations with 3/4 inch square shank pockets.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing the toolholder or indexing inserts. Confirm the turret or toolpost pocket is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Torque the Kenloc clamp screw according to the insert manufacturer specification found in the toolholder documentation; do not overtighten, as this can distort the pocket seat.
