The KENNAMETAL 1095981 is a right-hand MRGN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built on the Kenloc clamping platform, it uses a clamp-and-screw insert holding method to secure RN..64 series round inserts with a 3/4-inch inscribed circle. The steel shank measures 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall with an overall length of 6 inches, and the rake angle is set at -5 degrees. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in production turning applications requiring stable, repeatable insert indexing.
This toolholder is suited for external turning on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both production shop and job-shop environments. The MRGN style with a 15-degree lead angle is commonly used for straight turning and light facing passes where a round insert provides maximum edge count and insert life. The Kenloc clamping system is a Kennametal-series platform found on a wide range of production lathe setups. Coolant-through capability is not included on this holder.
Designed to accept RN..64 series round indexable inserts with a 3/4-inch (0.7500-inch) inscribed circle. Also referenced under Kennametal catalog numbers MRGNR and L166D.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the toolholder in the machine turret or tool post according to the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications before engaging a cut. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Verify insert seating and clamp engagement before returning the machine to operation.
