The KENNAMETAL 1095804 is a neutral-rake PROON-style indexable turning toolholder designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built on a 1.25 x 1.25 inch square shank with an overall length of 6 inches, it accepts RC..64 series inserts retained by a screw-on, pin-lock holding method. The steel construction and neutral hand orientation make it a versatile choice for straight-turning passes where the cutting edge is centered on the workpiece centerline. Machinists and tool-crib technicians working in job shops, production turning cells, or maintenance machine rooms are the primary users of this holder.
This toolholder fits standard lathe tool posts and quick-change systems that accommodate a 1.25 x 1.25 inch shank. It is suited for both roughing and finishing passes using round RC..64 compatible inserts with a 0.75 inch inscribed circle. The neutral hand orientation supports both OD turning and facing operations without repositioning the turret, making it a practical choice for general-purpose turning in a production environment. Coolant-through capability is not included on this holder.
Designed for use with RC..64 series round indexable inserts as specified by the manufacturer. Consult the KENNAMETAL RC..64 insert product family for compatible grades and geometries.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-crib technician with the machine powered down, spindle locked, and all energy isolated per LOTO procedures before setting or changing inserts. Seat the shank fully in the tool post or turret station and tighten clamping fasteners per the machine tool manufacturer's torque guidelines. Verify tool offset and centerline height before cutting, and confirm insert seating and pin retention before initiating any cut. Replace worn or chipped inserts before resuming production to prevent workpiece damage or tool post stress.
