The KENNAMETAL 1095606 is a neutral-hand SCMP-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It features a 5-degree positive rake angle, which reduces cutting forces and promotes smooth chip flow on a range of workpiece materials. The toolholder accepts CP..21.5. series inserts secured by a screw-on clamping method, providing repeatable insert positioning and reliable holding power during interrupted and continuous cuts. The 0.375 x 0.375 inch steel shank fits standard boring bar and turning station pockets common in production and job-shop environments. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists in tool crib or maintenance operations rely on this style of holder for consistent, changeable insert tooling.
This toolholder is suited for light to medium-duty external turning applications in both production and repair machine shops. The screw-on insert retention method is preferred in setups where quick insert indexing is required without disrupting the overall tool position. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a compact head length of 0.44 inches, it fits into tighter tool stations and turret positions where clearance is limited. It is not configured for coolant-through delivery, making it appropriate for standard flood or dry-cut setups.
Designed to accept CP..21.5. series indexable inserts, with complete insert compatibility noted for CP.. 2151. Verify insert inscribed circle of 0.25 inches before ordering inserts. Catalog reference number SCMPN062.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm the shank fits the tool station pocket to the correct depth before tightening clamp screws. Do not exceed the machine tool manufacturer's recommended clamping torque for the tool station. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before indexing or replacing inserts.
