The KENNAMETAL 1094829 is an indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built on the Top Notch series platform, it uses N-style inserts secured by a clamp holding method for consistent repeatability and quick insert changes. The bar features a 5/8-inch shank diameter and a 10-inch overall length, accommodating a minimum bore diameter of 1.0 inch (25.4 mm). A 3-degree lead angle and right-hand cut geometry define its orientation and chip direction. Coolant-through capability is provided via a 1/8-27 NPT coolant hole thread, supporting high-speed, continuous cutting applications. The steel body is suited to a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
This boring bar is used in production and job-shop turning environments where precise internal diameter finishing or roughing is required. The right-hand cut configuration makes it compatible with standard forward-feed lathe setups. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC or manual lathes rely on this style of holder for repeatable insert indexing without disturbing the bore setup. The 10-inch overall length provides reach into deep bores while the 1-inch minimum bore diameter limits use to medium and larger bore applications.
Designed for use with N-style Top Notch series inserts in the A-NE toolholder style. Specific insert part numbers should be confirmed against the KENNAMETAL Top Notch series insert catalog to ensure proper fit and geometry.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the tool block or turret bore before engaging the workpiece, and verify shank clamping torque per the machine manufacturer's specification. Connect coolant supply to the 1/8-27 NPT port before operation when running coolant-through. Index or replace inserts only after the machine spindle has come to a complete stop and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state.
