The KENNAMETAL 1094665 is a steel indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built to the A-SCLD toolholder style, this right-hand bar accepts CD-series inserts held in place by a screw-clamp method, providing repeatable insert positioning and secure cutting forces. The bar features a 3/8 inch (9.53 mm) shank diameter and a minimum bore diameter of 0.300 inches (7.62 mm), making it well suited to small-diameter bore finishing and semi-finish passes. Coolant-through capability via a 0.078-inch (1.98 mm) internal coolant hole supports chip evacuation and tool life in deep or tight bore applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This boring bar is appropriate for job shop and production turning environments where small internal diameters require consistent, repeatable results. With a maximum bore depth of 1.250 inches and a 4.000-inch overall length, it fits standard turning center tooling blocks and gang-slide setups. The neutral rake geometry and -5 degree lead angle suit general-purpose steel and cast iron boring where moderate cutting forces and surface finish control are priorities. Coolant-through design benefits applications where chip packing is a concern in blind or semi-blind bores.
Designed for use with CD-series indexable inserts with a 1/2 inch inscribed circle and 1/4 inch thickness. Fits standard 3/8 inch shank boring bar holders on CNC lathes and manual turning centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret or toolpost is locked before mounting or removing the boring bar. Verify shank clamp torque to the toolholder manufacturer specification before engaging a cut. Confirm coolant line connections are clear and pressurized before running coolant-through operation to avoid chip packing in the coolant passage.
