The KENNAMETAL 1094523 is an SDJC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for precision metal turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It features a right-hand orientation with a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees, making it suitable for straight longitudinal turning and facing applications. The toolholder accepts DC-style inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and uses a screw-clamping method to secure the insert firmly during cutting. The steel construction provides rigidity and resistance to deflection under continuous cutting loads. At 4 inches in overall length, it fits standard tool block positions in most production turning setups. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling turning work are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This toolholder is used in production and job-shop turning environments where consistent insert indexing and reliable clamping are required. The SDJC geometry positions the insert at a neutral rake, which balances cutting forces across a broad range of workpiece materials. The screw-on clamping series provides positive insert retention without the complexity of lever or top-clamp systems, simplifying insert changes during a shift. It is well suited to both roughing and semi-finishing passes where a 0.625-inch by 0.625-inch shank size is appropriate for the machine turret or tool block in use.
Compatible with DC-style turning inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, per complete insert compatibility designation DC.. 21.51. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit toolholder for machines accepting a 0.625-inch square shank in an SDJC configuration.
This toolholder is installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians. Before mounting or removing the toolholder, ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle is locked per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank in the turret pocket to the specified torque requirements listed in the machine tool manual. When indexing or replacing inserts, use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the screw-clamp seat and inspect the seat pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
